Dr. Molla Shahadat Hossain Lipu is a senior member of IEEE and a prominent researcher and academician in the fields of energy storage, renewable energy, electric vehicles, grid integration, decarbonization and sustainable development goals (SDGs). Dr. Lipu has held various academic positions for more than ten years at both local and international universities. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) and also serves as the Director of the Centre for International Affairs at the same university. Before joining GUB, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the National University of Malaysia and the University of Asia Pacific, Bangladesh.
Dr. Lipu completed his B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Islamic University of Technology, Bangladesh, in 2008, his M.Sc. in Energy from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, in 2013, and his Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronic, and Systems Engineering from the National University of Malaysia in 2019. He made significant contributions during his master's and Ph.D. studies, earning Excellent Thesis Awards for his novel findings.
Dr. Lipu has a deep passion for research, with interests that include battery management systems, electric vehicles, smart grids, and the application of artificial intelligence in renewable energy systems. He was listed among the top 2% of highly cited global researchers by Stanford University and Elsevier in 2022 and 2023. He has published extensively in top-tier journals such as IEEE Transactions, Elsevier, and Nature. Additionally, he has received prestigious research grants from the ministries of Malaysia and Bangladesh. Moreover, he has supervised and mentored many undergraduate and graduate students. His exceptional research contributions have earned him over 8,000 citations and an h-index of 38, according to Google Scholar.
In addition to his research achievements, Dr. Lipu has served as an advisor, keynote speaker, editor, and reviewer. He is the advisor of the IEEE Power and Energy student branch chapter at GUB. He has received the Research Excellence Award from the Centre for Research Innovation and Transformation (CRIT) at GUB and the Alumni Association of the Islamic University of Technology for publishing high-impact articles in reputed journals. He also received a Special Recognition Award from CRIT for being ranked in the top 2% of researchers worldwide in both 2022 and 2023. Furthermore, he has served as a guest editor for several renowned journals, delivered keynote addresses at various webinars and seminars, and won best paper awards at IEEE conferences. He has also been awarded gold medals at several exhibitions for his innovative research outcomes. Additionally, he has worked as a session chair at various reputable conferences. He has reviewed numerous articles for top-ranked journals such as IEEE Transactions and Elsevier.
